See Dubai Opera as you’ve never seen it before

The iconic Dubai Opera is hosting its first ever sporting event, with some of the world’s best squash players heading to the beautiful venue for the 2017 PSA Dubai World Series Finals. The stage has been transformed into a state-of-the-art glass squash court for the five-day tournament – which we think is worth checking out for the novelty factor alone.

Dubai Opera, Dubai, Tue to Thur, 3pm and 9.30pm, Fri and Sat 9.30pm, Dhs50 to Dhs350. Tel: (04) 4408888, more information on the website.

Clean out your closet

It can feel like a chore, but now we have the perfect excuse for giving our wardrobes a much-needed overhaul. BurJuman has partnered with Red Crescent this Ramadan, and is encouraging shoppers to donate clothing via easily accessible donation points throughout the mall. All collected items will be distributed to families in need.

BurJuman, Dubai, open 10am to midnight daily during Ramadan. Tel: (04) 352 0222, more information on website.

Friday 9

Check out the new Katsuya restaurant

After closing its outlet in The Dubai Mall last year, this world-famous Japanese restaurant has reopened its doors at the chic new Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel, and is open for daytime dining throughout Ramadan. With an array of signature sushi rolls to choose from, as well as a few surprises on the menu (think “edamame hummus”), we think it might just be the perfect spot for your next ladies’ lunch.

Katsuya by Starck, Jumeirah Al Naseem, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, open daily, midday to 1am. Tel: (04) 419 0676, more information on website
