The weekend is finally here, and we’re going to be making the most of it with street food, new brunches, and laid-back yoga.

Chow down on some street food
We love food trucks, but we do enjoy them substantially less amid summer’s scorching heat. However Truckers DXB has come up with a nifty solution, bringing a range of street foods indoors for a couple of months. There’ll be 15 trucks found in the venue, serving up everything from BBQ nibbles and gourmet pizza to sweet fried dough goodies. There’ll also be carnival games, live entertainment, arts and crafts and more, so you can make a real night of it.
Truckers Summer Warehouse, Hall 8, Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. Every Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat, July 6 to September 2, 4pm to 11pm. Entry is Dhs10 per person, free for kids under 12. truckers.ae.
Get your hands on a seriously luxe coffee
It’s billed as one of the most difficult coffees in the world to source, but you can currently find Jamaica Blue Mountain at Mokha 1450, Dubai’s hub for serious java fans. And even better – the coffee boutique is offering a 2-for-1 deal at the moment on espresso-based beverages (lattes, cappuccinos, single shots and the like). Jamaica Blue Mountain is, according to experts, perfectly smooth and balanced with almost no bitterness – much like us…
Mokha 1450 Coffee Boutique, Unit 8, Aswaaq Community Mall, Al Bada’a, Al Wasl Road, Dubai, open Sun-Thurs, 8am-10pm. Fri-Sat, 8am-11pm. Offer on until July 6. Dhs250 for 250g bag, or coffees on-site from Dhs45. Tel: (04) 321 6455. mokha1450.com.
Friday 7
Enjoy an (actual) brunch
Waffle lovers, rejoice: There’s a new Belgian eatery in town, and on the weekends they’re serving up a proper breakfast brunch. Head to Le Petit Belge in JLT for all your classic mid-morning favourites like pastries, eggs and French toast.
Le Petit Belge, Pullman Hotel, JLT, Dubai. Fri and Sat 10am to 2pm, Dhs99. Tel: (04) 567 1100. lepetitbelge.com.
Enjoy a Hollywood flick in total luxury
A Friday night spent at the movies is our idea of the perfect weekend (don’t judge us, we’re not quite as young as we used to be), so The Roxy’s latest offer piqued our interest. Platinum class seats typically go for Dhs130+ at most movie theatres, but the boutique cinema chain are offering their version of VIP option – called the Director’s Lounge – for Dhs99 a ticket this summer. For that you get a leather reclining seat, wooden side table and butler service on call, plus all your typical on-screen action.
Roxy Cinemas, locations at City Walk, Box Park and The Beach JBR. Dhs99 Director’s Lounge promotion on until August 31. theroxycinemas.com.
Saturday 8
Round the weekend off with a roast
It might be 40-odd degrees outside, but sometimes the air-con makes it feel like the middle of winter – which makes us crave a hearty dinner (as if we needed an excuse). Luckily Scottish export Copper Dog promises the taste of a home-cooked feast with its new weekly Roast Brunch, their take on the traditional British classic. Pick from lamb, chicken, beef or a nut roast, and load up on trimmings – including Yorkshire puds – with two hours of house beverages. Pro tip: you’re probably better off wearing elasticated trousers for this one.
Copper Dog, DoubleTree by Hilton, JBR, Dubai, 10am to 2am (kitchen closes at 10.30pm). Dhs275 per person, Saturdays only. Tel (04) 559 5355. copperdog.ae.
Take a yoga class beneath the moon
What could be more serene than working on your poses while watching the July full moon rise, with spectacular views of Dubai Marina and the Arabian Gulf to boot? All levels are welcome to join this 90-minute yoga journey hosted by Fairmont The Palm, with towels, mats, and refreshments included.
Fairmont The Palm, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. Sat July 8, 8pm to 10pm. Dhs75. Participants encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. Pre-registration recommended, email elmira.gazizova@fairmont.com
