Did you make it down to Alserkal Avenue this weekend? Well, prepare to feel a little saddened if not…
The arts and culture hub turned into an artisanal market over the weekend, called Area 01, and it was a rather vibrant affair.
Combining the best of the popular Urban Market with the chilled-out sounds of Music on the Avenue, there were more than 50 stalls from local vendors offering unique products, as well as food trucks and stands, live music, and even yoga in the mornings.
Over 12,000 shoppers showed up at the two-day event, which also featured displays from regional chefs and fitness experts, plus family-friendly activities including graffiti and parkour workshops and ping-pong tables.

Live bands – including We Speak in Colours, Monteath, and The Losing Party – played throughout the weekend.
DJs, including Patrick Robineau and Maxime from Satwa 3000, took to the decks too.
The best of Dubai’s creative community descended on the area for the weekend.
There were 15 food stands on site, including pop-ups from Roseleaf, Fraiche, Mantoushe and Wokyo Noodle Bar.
The colouring-in wall was a big hit.
The two-day event had a real family-friendly vibe, with stalls from K100, Lady Mauve, Urban Nomads and Chari Cycles (to name but a few).

The venue looked especially atmospheric as the sun went down.
We’re already hoping Area 01 will be back next year…
