Leading the charge with an astonishing 16 nominations is Ryan Coogler’s epic Sinners, which has now etched its name in Oscars history. Surpassing the 14-nomination records held by classics like All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land, Sinners dominated across the board. Its nods include Best Picture, Best Director for Coogler, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, and a historic Best Costume Design nomination for Ruth E. Carter, making her the most nominated Black woman in Oscar history.
Hot on its heels is Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, while Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, and Frankenstein are locked in a compelling tie with 9 nods each.

This year’s Best Picture lineup is a testament to cinematic diversity, ranging from the high-octane drama of F1 and the literary adaptation Hamnet to the fantastical Bugonia and the intimate Norwegian favourite Sentimental Value.
The acting categories are fiercely competitive. The Best Actress race sees Emma Stone (Bugonia) up against Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) and Kate Hudson, making a celebrated return for Song Sung Blue. Best Actor features a showdown between industry titans Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another) and Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), alongside Timothée Chalamet’s transformative turn in Marty Supreme.
A significant shift in the awards landscape is marked by the inaugural Best Casting category, recognising the crucial art of ensemble building, with Sinners, Hamnet, and The Secret Agent among the nominees.
The 98th Academy Awards will be hosted by the legendary Conan O’Brien on March 15, 2026, broadcast live on ABC and Hulu. In a sign of the times, the Academy also announced that from 2029 onwards, the Oscars telecast will move exclusively to live streaming on YouTube, embracing a new digital future.
