As fashion brands continue to put sustainability at the forefront, one of the key ways forward is taking an ethical approach.

With that, popular footwear brand Dear Frances has launched their first eco-vegan collection. By steering towards thoughtful shopping options, the brand is committed to producing seasonless styles.

By adopting an immaculate design process, the brand’s latest collection is produced by using fruit waste from apples and other natural wastes which are a by-product from the food industry. The apple residue specifically can be naturally dried with lowered emissions during the process of production.

Dear Frances - Vegan

“We have always been committed to being a sustainably conscious brand aiming to reduce waste where possible and so when launching our debut vegan collection, we wanted to be sure that not only is the collection leather-free, but that it is also created in a sustainably conscious way – we didn’t want to just replace leather materials for plastic that was going to cause lots more harm to the environment, so we spent the time searching for a natural alternative that produced a product that felt as soft and durable as our mainline collections. In doing so, our vegan collection has been a few years in the making,” said Jane Frances, the designer and founder of Dear Frances.

With more consumers building a timeless wardrobe, the vegan collection ensured both quality and style are intertwined for everyone to own long-lasting classic pieces.

From start to finish, Dear Frances has curated a collection that looks into each aspect of conscious production. Each pair is packaged in recycled shoe boxes made from organic grapes and locally sourced crops to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

There’s no denying that footwear production has contributed to the fashion industry’s grim environmental crisis. With a handful of brands trying to pick up the pieces, Dear Frances is amongst the latest player to ensure consumers don’t sacrifice style for sustainability.
