With an abundance of talent emerging from GCC countries, it’s always refreshing to see local brands being supported by prominent figures.
Marking her birthday, the First Lady of Oman, A’sayeeda Al Jalila Ahd Al Busaidi, wore a bespoke gown which was made especially for her by an Omani fashion brand.
Amal Al Raisi, founder and creative director of the namesake brand, created the gown the Sayyida wore, which was handcrafted by the designer in a white and pink design.
Discussing the creation of the bespoke dress, Al Raisi spoke of her honour to have designed the piece and also the privilege she has had to work with the Sayyida over the years.
“For many years I have been honoured to receive the trust of A’sayeeda AL Jalila Ahd AL Busaidi to design bespoke pieces especially for her,” the designer, who launched her brand in 2007, said. “Today I’m beyond proud to dress Sayyida Ahd in a bespoke Amal Al Raisi design for her birthday.”
She explained that the piece took over 120 hours to create with a total team of 11 to bring the design to life, which is made from 100 per cent row silk fabric and fine tulle.
“The dress is a couture piece inspired by the traditional outfits of the Musandam Governorate with hand embroidery details referencing the beautiful apricot flowers in full bloom in the village of Wakan,” she added.
