She’s one of the greatest supermodels of our time – heck, she was the star of Paris Menswear Week despite it being a week for, erm, men’s fashion – and now the gorgeous Naomi Campbell is coming to Dubai for the third edition of the annual Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience by Emaar. The British model is rumoured to be joined by fellow fashion heavyweights Christian Louboutin and Silvia Venturini Fendi for the event that will take place on October 29 to 30.
Emaar, the UAE-based real estate firm (most famous for developing the world’s largest shopping mall – The Dubai Mall – and world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa) is once gain joining forces with Vogue Italia to host the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience by Emaar, which celebrate emerging fashion talent in the region as well as establishing luxury brands who have a retail space inside the mall.
As with last year’s event, which falls under the umbrella of the Dubai Design & Fashion Council, The Dubai Mall will be a backdrop to a series of high-fashion events including runway shows, industry talks and exclusive in-store activities as is common with Vogue Fashion Night Out.
However, what is new this year is the addition on Who Is On Next, in which Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience judges – Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani and Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey, Naomi Campbell, Christian Louboutin and Silvia Venturini Fendi – will unearth the most creative, emerging design talent in the region.
The hotly-anticipated competition, which is open to designers from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, will celebrate three winners across the categories womenswear, menswear and accessories.
As well as prestige, the prizes will include a fashion show at Pitti Uomo in Florence, a fashion show at AltaRoma in Rome, plus the opportunity to retail in a temporary store inside The Dubai Mall, as well as on yoox.com.
Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia said:. “Today, it is much awaited by the international fashion circuit not only because of Dubai’s status as the new fashion capital but also to support and encourage next generation of fashion talent.”
Nez Gebreel, chief executive of the Dubai Design & Fashion Council, said: “We are pleased to be officially supporting Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience. The event complements the continuing concerted efforts of the council to set clear industry standards in the fashion industry and to enhance Dubai’s design scene by continuing to elevate the city’s status as a leading global fashion destination.”
