Nancy Ajram’s postponed TikTok concert finally went ahead and the Lebanese singer could not have picked a more appropriate designer to create her performance looks.
Celebrated creative Hussein Bazaza put together five exclusive jackets to fit five different scenes in ‘The Magical Live Show’ that took place on September 18. Not only did these dazzling selections showcase his intricate approach, but they were also made sustainably out of old garments from previous collections.
The online event and was the positive note the country needed following the devastating explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital at the beginning of August.
“It is an utmost pleasure to finally have this project come to life, especially after the Beirut blast that had tremendously affected us all, both physically and emotionally,” the designer said in a statement. “Nancy’s positivity and capacity to always radiate joy through her music, despite the darkest times, is not only dearly touching, but also desperately needed these days in hopes of a melodious tomorrow.”
The first jacket featured a colour blocking retro print and a gathered waistline. The lively pastel colour palette outlined with black borders while the frill of sequins adorned some cuts that acted as a contrast against the minimalism of light faded denim.
For something a little more classic, Bazaza also created a monochromatic jacket in a glistening tan shade. With structured shoulder blades and a basque waistline hem, it’s dramatic and edgy at the same time.
A shimmering cropped blazer with a colourful ’80s beadwork is one of the designers favourite pieces from the lineup. The bright green peak lapels and exaggerated Neapolitan cuffs frame the jacket and were made out of the statement dress from his SS19 collection.
The silver biker jacket featuring embroidered beats stitched in black threads was an elegant take on grunge, while for the fifth and final piece he kept it sporty with a baseball jacket. Worn two ways, it is monogrammed with the Ajram’s initials and has different striped patterns with its collar, cuffs and curved waistline silkily embroidered in bright blue and white stripes.
