Fashion Forward, the Middle East’s biggest fashion event, may have come and gone but The Fierce Diaries blogger Nadya Hasan is still revelling in all its stylish activities. Here she blogs about the three-day extravaganza exclusively for Emirates Woman.
I must say this season has been by far the best Fashion Forward yet. Designers from Ezra, Dima Ayaad, Madiyah Al Sharqi and the House of Nomad all brought their A game. Let me give you a visual diary of how crazy my weekend has been and also working with CloseUp Arabia who were one of the sponsors of the three-day fashion event…
Backstage. This season I had the privilege of going backstage and getting a glimpse of what goes on before the models hit the runway. I got to see how some of M.A.C’s pro make-up artists worked their magic on the models from simple to extreme looks.
Interviews. Meeting the designers was great. Being in Dubai you kind of know most of them so it was fantastic to just congratulate the creatives first hand. I had great answers when I asked them what makes the perfect Sparkling ShowStopper – a woman’s “smile”, “attitude” and “confidence”. I couldn’t agree more.
FROW. Previously front row at Fashion Forward wasn’t always the best seat in the house, but this year the organisation was better than ever. They got better, bigger and meaner bouncers! I sat next to some of Dubai’s finest, including Reem Kanj from Five Five Fabulous and Lina Mustafa Owner of The Luxury Arcade in Abu Dhabi.
EZRA. I can picture myself walking the streets in his gowns and even going to bed in them. Aren’t they dreamy?
Madiyah Al Sharqi. Pastels and structure, the deisgner has come a long way from when she started and is not slowing down anytime soon. I can’t wait to see her pieces on the red carpet at the Oscars!
Jean Louis Sabaji. Need i say more? The pictures speak for themselves!
House Of Nomad. My dear friends and great local talent. From starting off with a collection of seven to 10 looks last year to having a fantastic runway collection, they have come a long and deserve every success. Oh winter I can’t wait for you so that I can wear every piece made.
Well, what an extravaganza… Fashion Forward Season Five you certainly excelled yourself this year. Until next time…
