SS20 takes flight with Bvlgari’s bewitching beat of butterfly wings.
We spoke to the brand’s Accessories Managing Director, Mireia Lopez Montoya, to find out why the Roman Maison is able to deliver such prestigious, long-lasting collections season after season and how for SS20 we’ve been introduced to a little magic.
Tell us about the new collection, Serpenti Forever Butterfly Flow.
This spring Serpenti Forever comes in a very delicate and ultra-feminine interpretation with the handmade butterfly appliques inspired by Bvlgari’s heritage Tremblant broches.
You’ve mastered working with beautiful exotic skins, do you find these pieces carry most appeal in specific markets?
Yes, Bvlgari has a unique savoir-faire in the way the Maison crafts exotics skins, some- thing that has been mastered through the years with continued research from our artisans. The result leads to unique and beautiful pieces.
The pastel shades are highly appropriate for spring summer. Where did the inspiration for this colour palette come from?
Bvlgari always plays with colours in unexpected ways and this time we were in- spired by gems that shine in this soft palette.
What about the craftsmanship of these bags? Do you think it makes them so iconic and long lasting, really a mindful investment piece?
We always aim to create extraordinary and timeless pieces that you will just like to enjoy and keep with you for many years. They are unique and truly represent us as the ʻJeweller of Leather Goodsʼ.
Who have been your mentors to date and what have you learned from them?
I have been lucky to work with many brilliant managers from whom I was able to learn so much throughout my career. What really matters is always strive for results without ever los- ing the human angle. The power of being a part of a highly cohesive team and having fun together is crucial and I am lucky to experience it at Bvlgari.
Which piece from the collection makes the perfect gift?
There are so many options that you can certainly find something right for everyone. From our unique colourful scarves to the trendy sunglasses or the most exclusive bags.
The attention to detail is second to none in these pieces, can you highlight the most special details?
In each of our bags you can appreciate our jeweller essence, as you look into each of our metal details you will appreciate the craftsmanship of wearing a jewel.
Do you see any particular buying trends globally when it comes to accessories?
I see that quality and timelessness become even more important nowadays, as clients tend to be more sensitive to sustainability and to the value of their investment.
