Now add the whole of the world media watching your every step and the public judging how you handle your child, and that is what new mum Meghan Markle has had to deal with.

The constant backlash and scrutiny that the Duchess of Sussex has been forced to cope with makes your overbearing mother-in-law look like an angel. In an upcoming ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, journalist Tom Bradby had a chance to ask Meghan how she has been feeling.

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging,” Meghan said. “And especially as a woman, it’s really, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed.”

Meghan added: “And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Her raw honestly connected to many around the world, team EW included, who say that they are ok, even if they’re struggling. To support the Duchess there has been a hashtag #WeLoveYouMeghan circulating round the internet which many have used as a platform to share their story.
