The day marks those whole lost their lives in two worlds wars and other conflicts and as tradition has it, they both wore sombre black outfits while also sporting red poppies – a symbol of Remembrance.

The Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge watched from separate balconies as their husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William, followed their father in laying wreaths at Cenotaph war memorial.

Meghan chose a belted Stella McCartney coat that she styled with a wide-brim hat. She stood next to Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Sir Timothy Laurence, Princess Anne‘s husband. Meanwhile Kate wore a bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress that she paired with a velvet fascinator and pearl earrings. She was joined by the Queen and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

After the ceremony was complete, thousands of veterans as well as servicemen and women marched past the memorial to pay their respects.
