Meghan Markle stole the show stepping out in New York City on Wednesday night with Prince Harry at a red carpet event.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala at the Intrepid Museum to honour war veterans just ahead of the USA’s Veterans Day and the UK’s Remembrance Day.

Prince Harry looked dapper in a classic tuxedo, but it was his wife who stole the show. Meghan wore a scarlet red Carolina Herrera gown pairing it with chic red heels designed by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Both Prince Harry and Meghan also wore red poppies in recognition of Remembrance Day in the UK which is marked every year on November 11.

The pair were there to honour the 2021 Intrepid Valor Award honourees, where Prince Harry paid tribute to them and all veterans who “are part of an everlasting bond”, adding that “we will always have your back”.

Prince Harry also reflected on his own decade-long military career in his speech.

“My experience in the military made me who I am today, and I will always be grateful for the people I got to serve with — wherever in the world we were,” he said. “But in war, you also see and experience things you hope no one else has to.

“These stay with us, sometimes like a slideshow of images.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to the USA after stepping back from public royal life at the beginning of 2020. The pair first relocated to Canada with their son Archie and then settled in Montecito, California, Meghan’s home state.

The couple recently welcomed their second child, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Mountbatten-Windsor, back in June.
