We know what we’re wearing to our next royal garden party.

So much for a honeymoon. Just days after her wedding to Britain’s Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has made her first public appearance as a member of the royal family.

The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended Prince Charles’ 70th birthday at Buckingham Palace, and we have to say, they got their style notes exactly right.

In a pale pink silk crepe shift dress from London label Goat and a Philip Treacy hat, the Duchess looked every inch the royal. She even wore stockings, which might seem like a minor detail, but does represent a move towards conventional British royal attire.

Prior to the wedding, Markle was usually seen without.

The Goat Fashion Flavia dress was made custom for the Duchess, the label said on Instagram. It’s now sold out in its off-the-rack form on Matches Fashion, and we can see why — with a sheer yoke and sleeves, a tailored bodice and pencil skirt, it’s simple, elegant and flattering.

Should it come back into stock, you’ll pay £520 (Dhs2,557) to get your own one. The label is a long-time favourite of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

And while the newlyweds have ended up back at work pretty quickly after their nuptials, they did look to be having a great time.

Thousands of people from the charities Prince Charles supports were invited to the garden party, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen chatting away.

Prince Harry made a speech celebrating his father’s achievements and charity work along with his birthday.

“You have inspired William and I, and looking out here today, it is clear we that we are not alone,” the Duke of Sussex said.

“You have created an incredible body of work that has, and will continue to change so many people’s lives around the world.”

And as for that honeymoon? We hear they’re heading to a super-luxe eco retreat in Namibia.
