An iconic song

Is it even the festive season if you don’t listen to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas on repeat? In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the award-winning singer decided to remake the video to the iconic song, championing a Dubai-based label.

For the first time since its release, All I Want For Christmas managed to climb to the top spot of the Billboard 100 charts. Ever since coming out in 1994, the song would shoot to the charts during December as it has become a festive staple, but it was never able to claim the number one spot.

As expected, the remake of the video is just as festive as its predecessor. The five-time Grammy winner rocked several looks for the video, including a long-sleeve, mini emerald green, sequin dress by Dubai-based label Alina Anwar Couture. Alina is one of the region’s fastest rising fashion designers, dressing many big names in Bollywood like: Kareena Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez.

The modern take on the classic tune is a magical production, full of festive spirit. The video is a Mariah-esque rendition The Nutracker complete with a Santa inspired jumpsuit, snow, ice skating Santas and elaborate sets that make us want to celebrate Christmas all year round.

During a YouTube livestream of the new video, Mariah talked about the remake experience saying: “”We wanted to make a modern classic. It’s kind of the opposite of the original video. This is more of a production.”
