Style star and writer Leandra Medine Cohen might have found her fame with online platform Man Repeller – inspired by her quirky fashion choices and everything that guys just don’t get – but it’s her confidence that has prompted others to dress however they feel.
Never afraid to trial an experimental trend, Leandra has collaborated with luxury brand Louis Vuitton to showcase some of their key shoe styles that all the cool girls will be rocking this season. The new Louis Vuitton women’s shoe collection mixes classic and futuristic styles, sportswear and savoir-faire, sophistication and a boyish femininity, offering a bold, high fashion look.
Let’s take the loafers. This preppy shoe always seems to find it’s way into the trend pages, and this season artistic director of womenswear Nicolas Ghesquière wanted to play with masculine and feminine across two styles of the loafers. The Swift model features the iconic flower-shaped heel as well as a a new LV Circle, meanwhile Academy silhouette gives the classic college loafer a modern twist with a platform sole. If you’re a fan of a chunky platform, then you’ll also love LV Beaubourg derby shoes.
For height and a sense of seventies nostalgia look to the Podium style. From high-tops and boots to platform sandals, this design artfully combines calfskin and suede for a vintage effect.
If you thought that ‘dad sneakers’ trend was heading out the door, then we are happy to report that the bulky sports shoe is here to stay. For summer, Ghesquière gave the famed Archlight sneakers a colourful revamp so expect several new mixes to choose from.
