She may be 56 years old but Madonna is determined to prove she can still play with the young kids as she takes on Taylor Swift, creating her own ultimate girl group.

Last month Taylor Swift caused a sensational stir not only in the music industry but also across social media when she released her video for Bad Blood, in which starred a bevy of young models, actreses and singers (think Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham and Selena Gomez) – essentially, modern-day influencers.

However, determined not to be outdone, and not to lose her status as the Queen of Pop, Madonna has clubbed together her own star-studded and unique girl band for her third single B***h I’m Madonna. As if the title of the song wasn’t statement enough her elite group includes the sassiest singers in the industry featuring cameos from Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry – controversial as Taylor’s Bad Blood is rumoured to be about a fall out with the Roar singer.

Madonna posted pics from her hey day on social media

Just like Taylor, Madonna has used social media as her mega PR machine, sending teasers about the new video and images that tell us, quite frankly, that she is the boss. The singer even uploaded images from her Immaculate Collection heyday – perhaps a reminder of how long she has not only been in the industry but also how long she has been a legend. She even made a meme (our favourite pastime) using a picture from the Godfather, reminding us who is boss.

However, it was her post of the new single poster (including images of her gang) that go the most attention, receiving 84.4 k likes on Instagram. The picture was captioned: “Video coming soon! Just tryin’ to make it perfect for all of you we are hard werking b***hes!”

While some might accuse the mother-of-four of trying to latch on to the success of  younger, and trending, stars – let’s not forget that cringeworthy kiss with Britney and with Drake – one thing is for sure, she still knows how to court attention and make headlines.

Although, the video is rumoured to be a ploy to dethrone Taylor Swift,  sources claim the multi award-wining singer might be making an appearance herself. This could be a smart move for Madonna as you know what they say: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
