Fur out, ethical in.

Dolce&Gabbana has taken a leap forward in order to champion sustainable fashion with its new fur-free petition starting in 2022. As an alternative to fur, the label will use sustainable faux fur that’s created using recycled and recyclable materials for a better future for fashion.

The news came out as part of a joint statement that was released with the Animal Rights Group Humane Society International.

“Dolce&Gabbana is working towards a more sustainable future that can’t contemplate the use of animal fur,” said Fedele Usai, the Group Communication and Marketing Officer at Dolce & Gabbana.

“The entire fashion system has a significant social responsibility role that must be promoted and encouraged: we will integrate innovative materials into our Collections and develop environmentally friendly production processes, while at the same time preserving artisans’ jobs and know-how otherwise in danger of fading.”

Be it heavy-duty fur-trimmed winter coats or any other silhouette lined with fur, discontinuation of this material will be replaced with ethical alternatives.

This entirety of change is brought about to introduce a moral product evolution, as the brand continues to behold its social responsibility in the industry. Environmental advocates have applauded this new initiative as the brand continues to champion new measures, that take planet earth into consideration.

The list of fur-free luxury brands keeps on expanding, as fashion houses such as Gucci, Prada and Moncler to name a few are also on a mission to commit to sustainability.
