Long dismissed as ‘preppy’ (think a less cool version of Blair in Gossip Girl) J.Crew has undergone a major transformation in the last few years thanks to its executive creative director Jenna Lyons. At the helm of the house since 2010, Jenna has helped the all-American brand gain serious fash cred with her use of rainbow hues, sequins, busy patterns and statement accessories. Oh, and did we mention, Michelle Obama is also a fan? The cashmere cardigans and polo shirts are still there, but are now available in neons and fabulous prints.

Our favourite piece is the Café Capri trousers, which are tailored to perfection and coated in beautiful wool silk. Starting at a reasonable Dhs800, we say every woman needs a pair. We’ll be wearing ours with pointy heels, a loose tee and some great jewels.
