When it comes to blending tradition with modern elements, Arab creatives seem to succeed in finding the perfect balance.
Lebanese jewellery designer Dina El Jisr is the founder of Dina J and focuses on geometric structures, sharp contrasts, texture, and pattern. Born in Beirut and raised in Saudi Arabia, Dina went on to study Central Saint Martins where she established her aesthetic and preference for triangular shape. She took this shape, a symbol of resilience and immortality, and deconstructed it across several collections.
Her studies and love for travel forced her to further reexamine traditional jewellery design, and helped her forge a unique signature style we see today. The range, spanning bracelets, necklaces, rings, and earrings, is punctuated by precision craftsmanship.
Some of her pieces have a minimal flair, for example Layan earrings that twist into a swirl. She has recently introduced some colours to her collections and worked with precious materials like mother of pearl. Some of her dainty pieces are ideal for layering, but there are plenty of statement designs for those who prefer to wear one or two pieces.
