Drama on the red carpet

Grammys is our favourite red carpet event for experimental fashion and daring style choices, and the 2020 was no different.

Ariana Grande looked like a modern-day princess in grey tulle Giambattista Valli ballgown, while Lizzo was exceptionally elegant in a Versace dress, styled with diamonds and a feather boa. Lebanese designers that made it on the best dressed list include Georges Chakra and Zuhair Murad.

It turned out to be an emotional night as it was announced that legendary basketball player, Kobe Bryant, tragically passed away in a helicopter crash alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other people.

Tributes were paid during the awards ceremony, including Alicia Keys and Boys II Men who opened the show with an emotional performance. Keys said: “Earlier today, Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero. We’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built.” Lizzo also dedicated her performance to him, taking to the stage at the Staples Center where Bryant played his entire career with the LA Lakers.
