We are not the only ones to have missed the glamour of the red carpet and it has been a fashion delight to see stars dazzle at the 2020 Venice International Film Festival.

This edition feels particularly emotional as not only is it the first film festival to take place since coronavirus significantly altered all industries, but it also the first major platform that Lebanese designers have had a chance to remind the world of their creative ingenuity after the devastating blast that crippled Beirut over a month ago.

It is one of the main red carpet events that is usually dominated by designers from the region and we were happy to see some of the bright minds of Lebanon making an appearance including Georges Hobeika and Rami Kadi.

Italian actress Beatrice Valli chose both Hobeika and Kadi for two separate red carpet occasions. On September 5 she stunned in cascading feathered gown from Hobeika’s Spring 2019 couture collection to attend the screening of Padrenostro before switching to another feathered gown, this time white with an embellished bodice, from Kadi’s Spring 2020 couture line for the premiere of Miss Marx.

Elsewhere we spotted television presenter Raya Abirached exuding classic elegance in a black sheer and shimmering thigh-split gown from Georges Hobeika which was perfectly complemented by a statement necklace from Beirut-based jewellery brand YEPREM.

Zuhair Murad was championed on Romanian actress Madalina Diana Ghenea who opted for a glittering red gown.

We hope to see more regional brands making it onto the red carpet for the 77th Venice International Film Festival which is on until September 12.
