The latest name to take the plunge is Lebanese designer Eli Mizrahi who showcased his New York-based brand Mônot in Paris over the weekend. Focusing on high octane glamour at a contemporary price point, these pieces are made for fans of a Balmain silhouette – sensual, tight and sparkly. The skirts art short, the dresses are architectural, the separates are sheer and the jackets are cropped. Knowing how to show a bit of skin in an elegant way is trick in itself, but it clearly hit the mark it’s been snapped up by Moda Operandi on exclusive basis, as well as worn by Zendaya.

Eli’s first collection shown in Paris featured 26 looks on a black and white colour palette. With advice from a Beirut-based Esmod professor who helped Eli on finalising his looks, all of the pieces went on to be made by Syrian refugees working in Lebanon. A personal decision given that Eli arrived in New York at the age of 13 as a political refugee.
He started his career working in celebrity endorsement – perhaps it’s hanging out with the A-list at events inspired his party-ready aesthetic. He is drawn to fearless, loud, opinionated, and outspoken women. Disruptors like Cardi B and Lizzo. But his clothes aren’t just for confident women, even though some pieces are more daring than others, they are also an aid in helping the wearer discover that inner attitude. To proudly stand in the middle of the room feeling and looking great.
