Another Arabic Netflix series is on it’s way!
Lebanese presenter, actor and comedian, Adel Karam is set to return to Netflix with a new original series. In early 2018, the 46-year-old worked with the streaming service on Live From Beirut, a stand-up comedy special, and Netflix’s very first original Arabic programming.
Now, it has been announced that the two are joining forces again, this time on a series titled, Dollar. The show is set in modern day Lebanon and we will get to see the comedian play a more serious character to fit the “fast-paced action-packed drama that will leave you on the edge of your seat.” Adel will star alongside Algerian/Lebanese actress, Amal Bouchoucha. The actor took to Instagram to share the news with his one million followers, sharing posters of the series, giving us our first glimpse of the show.

The series will tell the story of advertising mastermind, Tarek (Adel Karam), who is tasked with coming up with a million-dollar idea for the launch of a new bank. He’s got it, but will only share his idea with the CEO. Something’s off, and the bank’s hard-hitting young CFO, Zeina (Amal Bouchoucha), can sense it. But can she put the pieces of the puzzle together before things get out of hand?

The 15-episode series will be directed by Syrian director, Samer Berkawi, who is behind hit-shows like Al Hayba. It is produced by Beirut’s Cedars Art Production, and written by Hisham Hilal. Dollar will hit the small screen on August 8, and will be subtitled in 20 languages to 148 million members in over 190 countries. This makes the show Netflix’s fourth Arabic original series, following Jinn, which is already streaming and the previously announced Al Rawabi School for Girls and Paranormal, which are expected to launch later this year.
