This past year has been a turning-point for Lady Gaga who went from award-winning singer to award-winning actress. The Bad Romance hitmaker stole hearts as Ally in A Star is Born, while Shallow became one of the biggest hits of the year. Now, she has signed her next film and we can’t wait.

Gaga will follow her Oscar-nominated film with a murder drama, appearing in Ridley Scott’s retelling of the Gucci assassination. Gucci grandson Maurizio Gucci, was formerly the head of his family fashion house until he was shot and killed outside his office in 1995. According to Deadline, the songstress is set to play Patrizia Reggiani, Gucci’s ex-wife who was tried and convicted of ordering his death.
In light of the trial, Patrizia was commonly referred to in the media as the ‘Black Widow’ and was sentenced to 29 years in prison. However, her daughters maintained that their mother suffered from a brain tumour which affected her actions. She was eventually released in 2016 for good behaviour after serving 18 years, according to The Guardian.
The film will be based of The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, a book written by Sara Gay Forden. Meanwhile, the script for the silver screen will be written by Roberto Bentivegna.
Gaga proved her acting chops opposite Bradley Cooper, captivating audiences and even managing to get nominated at the Academy Award for Best Actress, which she lost out to Olivia Colman. However, she did win the Oscar for Best Original Song for Shallow, which she sang in a now iconic performance with Bradley.
