From reality TV to the court room

Kim Kardashian and her family are probably some of the most famous people on the planet. Around 16-years-ago the family’s hit reality show Keeping Up with The Kardashians premiered and ever since then, they have captivated the world.

Over the past few years, every sister has branched out on their own. From makeup to modeling to a lifestyle website, there is a Kardashian-Jenner in every corner of the beauty industry. Now, Kim, the most famous of the sisters is working towards being a full-fledged lawyer. The 38-year-old revealed that is doing a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco last summer and she’s aiming to sit the California bar exam in 2022.

This career step does not come as a surprise, as Kim has been dabbling in the field of law for a while now. Last summer, Kim played a key role in the release of 63-year-old, Alice Marie Johnson who served 21 years of a life sentence for a non-violent drug charge. In an interview, she talked about this new stage of her life, saying: “It’s never one person who gets things done,” she said. “It’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society.”

Kim’s late father Robert Kardashian was a lawyer who worked on the ‘ Trial of the Century’ as he famously defended OJ Simpson during his trial in the 1990s. But even though it seems like law is in her blood, she does know that her road to being a lawyer will not be easy. “The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds. To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crime law I can do in my sleep.”

California is one of four states that allows someone an alternate method to take the bar exam other than attending law school.

Best of luck, Kim!
