Oh no, they so went there. Just when you thought Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West couldn’t try any harder to be seen as icons of fashion they go and star in a rather questionable spring/summer 2015 campaign for Balmain

With some scenes echoing their first shoot together for Vogue US, the rapper and reality TV star pose in a series of provocative moves, one entailing a buxom Kim Kardashian draping herself across a sportscar, in the spring/summer 2015  Balmain campaign, called Army of Lovers.

The campaign was shot by famous photographer Mario Sorrenti, and the images accompany a larger campaign, which features top models such as Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Even though they are draped in the label’s latest wears, Kim and Kanye’s’ somewhat uncomfortable modelling distracts the attention from the fashion, with your attention more drawn to deciphering what is happening in each image. Stylish? Perhaps not. Effective? Absolutely. Within 30 minutes of Kim Kardashian tweeting a sneak peek image along with the caption: “BALMAIN”, the post was shared over 3,ooo times! Not too bad publicity then.

The shoot starring Kim Kardashian and Kanye West comes two weeks after the entrepreneur’s younger sister Kendall Jenner failed to get a spot in Balmain’s spring 2015 campaign, despite the fact that, along with Cara Delevingne, she is one of the biggest models of the moment and was one of the stars of Balmain’s spring/summer show at Paris Fashion Week in September.

Kim, who is close friend’s with Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, is a huge fan of the brand with her and Kanye stepping out recently in matching his & hers Balmain blazers while out on a date night in New York — the couple have a one-year-old daughter together, North West.

Between this campaign, her first Vogue cover and breaking the Internet, 2014 has been pretty big for Kim Kardashian.
