Royally chic.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, attended the first day of the annual Royal Ascot horse race in cornflower blue Elie Saab dress.

This was the first time Kate Middleton wore the Lebanese couturier and she styled the chiffon lace Resort 2019 piece with a clutch from the designer as well as a hat by Philip Treacy, silver Gianvito Rossi pumps, and Kiki McDonough earrings.

Blue seemed to be the colour of choice for the British Royals with the Queen, Princess Beatrice in Maje and Princess Eugenie in Calvin Klein all showing up in the hue. They all  took part in the traditional carriage procession alongside other members of the family including Prince William and Prince Charles.

The event, which the Queen has been attending since 1945, usually attracts an array of style choices, from the fabulous to the wonderfully outrageous. You can be as adventurous as you wish, but there is a 36-page dress code to consider for each of the enclosures.

Royal Enclosure is the most prestigious and is invite-only from the Monarch herself. Female guests have to wear dresses or skirts that are knee length or longer, the straps have to be an inch wide or more and you must wear a hat. Men can choose a black or gray morning dress which include waistcoat, top hat, black shoes and socks.

Our invite will probably arrive any day now…
