At a mere 22 years old, Karlie Kloss is already swiftly on her way to supermodel status with campaigns for Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent and Elie Saab under her belt and now the former ballerina and BFF of country crooner Taylor Swift has seen her status skyrocket after landing a new campaign with Chanel.
Having walked in their runway shows for the past two years the model, who is originally from Chicago, has just been unveiled as the first face of Chanel’s Coco Noir fragrance, which is relaunching as a parfum having been on the shelves as a lighter eau de parfum for the past two years. Shot by edgy Norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø, the pictures feature a dark image of Karlie’s face holding the iconic black bottle of Coco Noir.
Far from a novice when it comes to perfume campaigns, the Victoria’s Secret Angel has already lent her stunning features to Marc Jacobs, Dior and Juicy Couture in both fragrance and fashion advertisements, but this new fragrance launch will mark her first campaign with the famous fashion entity. The scent, which was created by master perfumer Jaques Pologe of Coco Mademoiselle fame, is a darker, mysterious addition to the Coco perfume range, featuring warm notes of jasmine absolute, narcissus and rose geranium leaf housed in a black and gold bottle, two of Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite colours.
Showcasing her versatility as a model, Karlie will also be starring in a new campaign at the opposite end of the fashion spectrum as she’s just signed on to star in the advertisements for Nike Women’s A/W14 Apparel collection. A fitness and beauty icon in her own right Karlie looks as stunning in the gritty running and sporting campaigns as she does holding a glamorous bottle of Coco Noir – now that’s a supermodel.
