She has an Instagram following of 19,000 and recently announced not only a book deal, but also a capsule make-up collection with Shu Uemura, so it is no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld’s feline friend Choupette is the muse for his latest collection of accessories.
Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld has turned to his famous cat Choupette to be the face of his new accessories line, Monster Choupette Collection, which features a range of different pieces embellished with a cartoon depiction of the famed cat.
Choupette fans will be able to choose between a shopping bag, two different pouches and a wallet all created in Saddiano leather. The pieces, which are available in black, navy and cream are accompanied by a pair of ballet flats, socks and a printed scarf as well as a the crème de la crème of the collection a ‘bag bug’ made of real fur available in red, blue or white. Special features of the collection also include Choupette’s very own paw print on each piece.
With two private maids to deal with her every need, Choupette also travels by private jet and dines next to Lagerfeld – and by next to she, we mean she literally sits on the table. However, she did start off from humble beginnings when Lagerfeld’s muse, model Baptiste Giabiconi asked the designer to cat sit over the Christmas holidays. After refusing to give her back Lagerfeld kept her and Choupette quickly escalated to celebrity status back in January 2012 when she made her first Twitter post.
Spoilt more than most children, Karl Lagerfeld has admitted in the past that Choupette even has her own journal where everything she does is recorded. “When I am not there the maids take down in little books everything she did, from what she ate, to how she behaved, if she was tired and if she wasn’t sleeping. In nine months we have almost 600 pages,” said Lagerfeld. With ‘King’ Karl in her corner it looks like there’s nothing holiday Choupette back from world domination.
