When we found out Kanye West was going to win the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award award at the MTV Video Music Awards (MVAs) we kind of hoped some one would storm the stage a la West, but then we remembered no one can upstage this man, who shocked the audience last night when he made the announcement that he is running for presidency.

That’s right, the rapper and fashion designer wants to add politics his CV. Always aiming high he isn’t settling for a governor role, no, he wants the to be head of state. Kanye West wants to be President, insisting he is running for the role in the 2020 elections.

Kim Kardashian looked on as her husband made a passionate, and somewhat rambling, speech in which he criticised modern society.

“I will die for the art, and for what I believe in — and the art ain’t always gonna be polite!” he started before almost apologising about his past behaviour especially to Taylor Swift who controversially was the star to hand him the award. You’re not that bad after all,” he quipped.

Despite winning an award from MTV, Kanye couldn’t help but critique the awards show and the way it hones in on crying celebrities who lose “’cause it got them more ratings.”

After admitting he had “smoked” before  on stage he delivered the lengthiest part of his rant about how consumerism is destroying the future of the children.

The man behind the very well marketed Yeezy trainers said being a father had changed him and that he wanted to help the children of today: “I don’t know what’s gonna happen tomorrow, bro. But all I can say to my artist, my fellow artist, just worry about how you feel at the time man. Just worry about how you feel and don’t never… I’m confident, I believe in myself. We the millennials, bro.”

“This is a new mentality,” he continued. “We’re not gonna control our kids with brands. We’re not gonna teach low self esteem and that to our kids. We gonna teach our kids that they can be something. We’re gonna teach our kids that they can stand up for themselves. We’re gonna teach our kids to believe in themselves. If my grandfather was here right now he would not let me back down. I don’t know what I’m finna lose after this, but don’t matter though cause it’s not about me. It’s about ideas bro, new ideas bro. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Kim Kardashian as First Lady? Well, that will be the greatest career ladder we have ever seen.
