This beauty innovation reached its peak in 2019 by harnessing the power of hyaluronic acid to deliver deep hydration and effectively plump skin from within.
Here, Emirates Woman consulted and booked a session with the expert, Dr Timm Wolter at Nova Clinic by Aesthetics to let you in on this in-office skincare treatment. Read on for our honest experience with Volite.
What is Volite?
Volite is an anti-ageing injectable treatment from Juvéderm (the same makers of Botox). It is a liquid form of hyaluronic acid treatment that is injected mainly into the face to address aging concerns such as fine lines, loss of hydration and elasticity, lip augmentation, smooth of décolletage, and nasolabial folds.
How does it work and what are its benefits to our skin?
In addition to the face, this youth-enhancing filler can be used on other preferred skin areas – including neglected areas such as the lips, hands, neck, and décolletage. The hyaluronic acid works by attracting water and filling out the creases and wrinkles on the skin, adding more volume and plumpness to areas such as the lips, jawlines, chins, and nasolabial folds for supple and youthful-looking skin.
What to expect during the treatment?
As with clinical treatments, the process starts with a consultation with the dermatologist to understand the patient’s history, needs, and requests. After which, the procedure starts with a little anesthetic help and an ice cube to numb the targeted areas so you don’t feel any discomfort (which helps if you have low pain tolerance). Once the lips are numb, the round of injections begins.
You will still feel a tinge of pain in some sensitive areas such as the areas near the nose however, overall it’s a bearable experience (Dr Timm is a pro and made it super comfortable, stopping as and when needed to calm the nerves) that does not take more than 30 minutes.
What are the potential side effects and aftercare post-treatment?
Volite treatments are an effective way to see visible skin results, with minimal downtime.
You will be advised to avoid intense strenuous activities such as sports and going under the sun for the first 24 hours after the treatment. Massaging the treated area daily to flatten small raised areas is also advised, but not required as it will subside naturally with time. Expect to also see slight bruising on the injection sites.
The final verdict
Dr. Timm has mentioned that it takes about 10-14 days to see visible results.
Now it’s been about two weeks since the treatment and in all honesty, we can report back that they do look plumper, and have noticed fewer fine lines on my lips. My lips still feel like it’s thirsty for water, so have been diligently working on that too.
