In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s no doubt the awareness surrounding cleanliness and hygiene is at an all-time high.

For life to return to a resemblance of normal in Dubai, businesses are opening back up, but with strict precautionary measures in place including regular disinfections and social distancing.

One such establishment in Dubai has been recognised for its strict health and safety standards, becoming the first hotel in the world to become officially certified for its hygiene practices.

The five-star Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel in Dubai has been awarded the Bureau Veritas’ Safeguard label – an organisation which is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services.

The organisation has developed stringent checklists in collaboration with top specialists in health, safety and hygiene, in order for businesses to reopen, with the highest hygiene and safety standards in mind.

For establishments, including hotels, that abide by the protocols put in place by Bureau Veritas, they will be awarded the Safeguard label. This accreditation will show to visitors the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness was taken in said establishment they choose to stay in, once tourism and travel begins to pick up after the pandemic has slowed.

Enter Dubai’s Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel, which is the first establishment to be awarded this accreditation.

“The safety of our guests and colleagues has always been our utmost priority,” José Silva, CEO of Jumeirah Group, said in a statement. “We have a long-standing relationship with Bureau Veritas, working with them since 2018 to oversee our HACCP certification for food safety and implementing health, safety and environment compliance audits globally.

“The current situation requires us to go even further to validate the protective measures in place and achieving the Bureau Veritas Safeguard Label is an important step in restoring confidence and demonstrating our commitment to operate our hotels to the highest global standards.”

Protocols taken at the five-star resort includes the mandatory wearing of face masks, complimentary sanitisation kits, temperature screenings and social distancing protocols, especially in busy areas like the pool and beaches and more.

Similarly, rooms are throughly cleaned and sterilised every day, which includes thermal cleaning for all bedding. As well as this, when guests check out, the hotel is ensuring no one else checks into the same room for another three days minimum. However, if this is not possible due to high occupancy and demand, the room undergoes a complete sanitisation fogging process.

“Jumeirah Al Naseem is the first hotel in the world to receive the Safeguard Label, and we will be working closely with Bureau Veritas over the coming weeks to certify our wider portfolio,” the CEO of Jumeriah Group added.
