Founded by a sisters Nafsika and Stephanie Skourti in Amman five years ago,  the design duo are making their debut during this seasons of Paris Fashion Week where they will show their first full collection by appointment.

Presenting itself as a “directional upper contemporary brand that embraces both glamour and anti-glamour,” reads their website. “A 90’s approach to sexy, and hints of ironic bad taste,” it continues. The kind of clothing that excites and thrills.

Think accented sleeves, shimmering fabrics, oversized blazers, sheer panels, corseted silhouettes, balloon mini dresses and decadent pendant pearl embroidery – many of which is done by refugee women.

Nafsika graduated from Central Saint Martins and trained in haute couture embroidery and passementerie at Ecole Lesage in Paris, before landing a job at Marchesa. Stephanie meanwhile studied law and worked for Goldman Sachs, but then decided to apply her financial know-how to fashion.

Offering a balance of daywear and party pieces, Nafsika Skourti is disrupting how fashion from the Middle East is perceived, which will hopefully connect with an international crowds that comes to Paris.
