London Oxford Street stalwart John Lewis is heading to the UAE.
British upmarket department store, John Lewis, has long been a reliable friend to ardent shoppers looking to furnish their home, buy the perfect black dress and get the latest on-trend make-up, now the one-stop-luxury-shop is coming to the UAE.
If you heard a scream 10 minutes ago it was the Emirates Woman team cheering to the sound of this long-awaited news.

However, before we get ahead of ourselves with excitement we have to tell you that not all John Lewis’s wonderfulness sis coming our way.

Al-Futtaim and John Lewis have signed a wholesale agreement which paves the way for the Middle East launch of the renowned UK retailer’s iconic stores and its diverse range of upmarket and value products.

Yet, according to the deal, John Lewis won’t be a stand along store, instead its home department will spearhead Dubai Festival City Mall’s new flagship Robinsons store scheduled for a spring 2017 opening. To span 15,000 sqft, John Lewis’s home department in Dubai will be the UK retailer’s largest overseas shop-in-shop.

While it won’t be a full John Lewis store it will have the same feel as the British institute, with the look and feel of the new shop-in-shop being designed by John Lewis’s store design team in collaboration with Al-Futtaim and Robinsons.
Andy Street, Managing Director, John Lewis, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Robinsons again on two new ventures. The success of our existing international shop-in-shops has given us the confidence to open in the Middle East and increase both the scale of the space and product assortment. This is an exciting time for Al Futtaim’s Dubai Festival City Mall and we’re pleased that John Lewis will be a part of the next phase of its redevelopment.”

The first ever John Lewis store was opened in 1864 on London’s Oxford Street. It now operates 46 John Lewis shops across the UK as well as johnlewis.com. More recently the store and brand has become famous for it’s iconic Christmas adverts.
