Jennifer Lawrence may be a reluctant pop star, but the 24-year-old Oscar winner is hitting the charts worldwide.
In Mokingjay – Part 1, the third film from the Hunger Games series, the actress preforms a song called Hanging Tree, which is also included in the movie’s official soundtrack. The song has entered the UK singles chart at number 14, the Australian chart at number 12, and is expected to get a coveted spot on the US’s top 40 later in the week.
Despite being received well by fans, Jennifer was reportedly “horrified” at having to sing in the film. Director Francis Lawrence revealed that she was in tears on the day she had to sing.
In an interview with David Letterman earlier this month, she said of the experience: “I do not like singing in front of other people. It’s like my biggest fear. I cried on set that day. That was awful.”
J-Law’s character Katniss Everdeen preforms The Hanging Tree as the rebel’s battlecry. Lyrics were taken from Suzanne Collins’ novel, on which the film is based, and put together with a melody from the Lumineers.
It seems that there’s no end to Jennifer’s talents, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by dashing co-star, Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale Hawthorne. It’s expected that, as well as their on-screen romance, the pair are set to become a couple in real life.
According to Heat magazine source, Liam’s ex Miley Cyrus isn’t pleased about the rumours. “Miley wants a showdown,” the insider said. “She’s told everyone she’s planning to confront Jen at Paul Khoury’s party in a few weeks – he’s Liam’s best friend and he stayed friends with Miley after the split.”
“Paul knows Jen through Liam, so all of them are invited. Jen has no idea what’s coming. She hates confrontation, but it would be a chance to settle the score. Liam would be furious and, if he finds out, he may try to stop Miley going. Miley always suspected Jen is the real reason Liam wouldn’t get back with her.”
We don’t know about you, but it sounds like idle gossip to us. Either way, we’re big fans of anything J-Law does, and it seems that she’s continuing on her road to the top.
