Supporting local talent

Over the weekend, Ivanka Trump jetted to Dubai for the Global Women’s Forum of 2020. The eldest daughter and senior adviser of US President Donald Trump, kicked off her visit by championing label, Layeur.

On her first day in the UAE, the mother-of-three was spotted walking through Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel, was a piece from Layeur collection, The Modist’s in-house label. Ivanka made at stop at the Sheikh Zayed mosque and the Louvre museum in the capital, and so the dress she chose to don for the day was a modest design. The metallic long-sleeved silk piece featured a belted waist and contrasting panels on the neckline and sleeves. The dress is available for purchase on The Modist for Dhs3,270.

The Global Women’s Forum of 2020 is a two-day event, welcoming female leaders, businesswomen and pioneers from all over the world. Taking place today and tomorrow at Madinat Jumeirah, the forum is the perfect opportunity for leading women to share experiences, exchange best practices and look at improving policies to bring about further equality.

It seems like Ivanka’s choice to champion a local designer was deliberate, as this has become part of the businesswoman’s travel tactic. Last November, the senior adviser visited Morocco on an official visit to promote women’s empowerment. During her time there, she championed Moroccan designer Fadila El Gadi on several occasions.
