1. Blossom Sweets inspired by Ines DiSanto S/S13

“The wedding season excites us as it unleashes our creativity and ideas. This gold cake was inspired by this couture gown. The pleats on the bottom tier represent the details on the dress and the lace was inspired by the straps on the dress as is the metallic sprayed gold,” Amna Al Hashly, Managing Partner, Blossom Sweets
Flavour: The cake is chocolate sponge with a hazelnut chocolate filling covered with marzipan.
Cost: Prices depend upon size and design. This cake is 10 x 6 inches and costs Dhs2,000.

2. Sugarholic Bakeshop inspired by Oscar de la Renta S/S13
In the detail:
“In keeping with the Oscar de la Renta frock we replicated the flowers and the cake base in the same colour and created silver leaves painted in edible lustre to give them shine. To bring out the dress effect, we added ruffles to the border and added a corsage-style flower to emphasise the extra flowers clustered around the neckline,” Ravisha Bhatia, Baker, Sugaholic Bakeshop
Flavour: Cakes can be made from chocolate, vanilla, marble, red velvet or carrot sponge. Frostings include Ferrero, Oreo, Nutella, fudge, milk ganache, dark chocolate ganache, galaxy, After Eights and vanilla buttercream.
Cost: Dhs1,000 for a 6kg cake serving 80-90 people.

3. Forty Carrots inspired by Lanvin Bridal S/S13

“Although this dress isn’t a typical bridal dress, it is nothing short of a statement and we wanted to ensure that was represented in our cake. Mimicking the dress we went big on the ruffles up one side of the cake,” Sami Hatoum, Baker, Forty Carrots
Flavour: This cake can be made with fudge cake, chocolate sponge or vanilla sponge with a ganache, covered with fondant.
