After a virtual unveiling earlier this year, Chanel’s Cruise 2021/2022 collection was presented to a live audience in the heart of Dubai on Wednesday, November 2, 2021.

The show welcomed a star-studded guest list including the likes of Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, fashion designer Amina Muaddi, French-Algerian A-lister Sofia Boutella and Egyptian star Tara Emad, all of who sat front row.

Inspired by the 1959 film Le Testament d’Orphée, Virginie Viard’s creative game reigns supreme as elements such as graphics, fringes, leather, beads have been fused into the collection in a minimalistic manner.

From tweed suit pieces encapsulating the ready-to-wear collection to quintessential black leather quilted designs, the presentation was truly an ode to Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy which continues to remain until this date and for years to come.

As homage to Gabrielle Chanel, monochromatic elements are beautifully incorporated into each design to show a strong contrast between night and day.

Keeping all the punk references in mind, Chanel’s creative director continues to infuse the same elements in the collection after carrying the baton for the Parisian Maison.

The exquisite experience ended with a heartfelt performance by John Legend, where the crowd swayed in delight. Casablanca-born singer Faouzia was invited to join him on stage, to present their duet Minefields together.

Two runway presentations were staged at 3pm and 7pm to ensure all guests were accommodated for at the Dubai Creek.

By first introducing the concept of Cruise Collections in 1910, Gabrielle Chanel offered her clients clothing and accessories for those who vacationed in warmer climate destinations.
