Indian celebrities at the Met Gala 2024 represented homegrown talent but with a modern flair.

The Met Gala 2024 witnessed a strong sartorial display of Indian talent and creativity, with celebrities donning custom-designed ensembles that seamlessly blended tradition with innovation.

Fashion entrepreneur Mona Patel stepped onto the red carpet for her debut in a stunning futuristic creation by couturier Iris Van Herpen that went viral on the internet.

Her ethereal gown, meticulously sculpted in nude hues, cascaded gracefully to the floor, adorned with a  butterfly corset that fluttered with delicate intricacy. A testament to Van Herpen’s visionary craftsmanship, the gown embodied the essence of nature’s ephemeral beauty.

The pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the kinetic arm piece, a marvel crafted by the talented hands of Casey Curran. Poised on Patel’s arm, it boasted butterfly wings that gracefully unfurled and folded in rhythmic harmony.

From Alia Bhatt and Mindy Kailing, to Isha Ambani, Simone Ashley, Natasha Poonawalla and Mona Patel, everyone’s interpretation of the theme, “The Garden of Time,” was innovative yet statement-making.

The gown, meticulously crafted over 10,000 hours, depicted nature's lifecycle through delicate floral motifs and intricate embroidery techniques. Complementing her ensemble was a clutch by Swadesh, featuring an Indian Miniature Painting, and traditional lotus hand bracelets and parrot earrings by Viren Bhagat.
