“Imagine having one day job and one night job, and both are very demanding,” entrepreneur Huda Kattan shares in a video on Instagram to her 54.7 million followers.
The duo decided to share the heartfelt news via a personalised message on social media. By speaking directly to their followers, they broke the news to their “community” first rather than the traditional route through press.
The sisters have now decided to separate as a company. With over 18 months in the works, they have worked hard to secure investors and ensure this is the right move for the brand. While already being separate brands, KAYALI and Huda Beauty will now be two separate teams.
After launching Huda Beauty in 2013, the three sisters started a beauty brand that has completely transformed the skincare, fragrance and makeup landscape. Following this in 2017, Mona Kattan translated her passion for fragrances into KAYALI.

With General Atlantic’s investment, KAYALI will now operate as an independent company, marking a significant step forward in its journey. After being founded in 2018, under the parent company Huda Beauty, the fragrance brand has become a disruptive force in the world of perfumery, gaining global recognition.
KAYALI founder Mona Kattan will own the fast-growing fragrance business with private equity investor General Atlantic. KAYALI will operate as an independent company and Mona will remain as CEO, they added.
By supporting, each other, the sisters are positive that this is what the two powerhouse brands need in order to grow and expand further.
Going forward, Mona Kattan will continue her role as KAYALI’s CEO, leading the brand into its next phase of growth and transformation.
As a homegrown brand, the sisters have gained immense global recognition, and now we’re all set to see what next for them.
