Doja Cat for the win!
If there’s one thing that stood out at Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 2023 couture show in Paris, it was undoubtedly Doja Cat’s Inferno-inspired look.
Created by the talented makeup artist, Pat McGrath, the singer’s over-the-top look was completed with a faille bustier and a hand-knit skirt of lacquered wooden beads, and lastly trompe l’oeil toe boots for the final touch.
The main question is how long could this look have possibly taken to prep?
Encrusted in 30,000 Swarovski crystals, the process reportedly took four hours and 58 minutes to hand-apply. The singer’s hair was covered in a skin-hued cap before the crystals and gold dust were precisely applied to her body.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared in a post on Instagram, McGrath said, “Such a pleasure working with the gorgeous @DojaCat and the amazing @DanielRoseberry on the ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look for @Schiaparelli’s FW23 Haute Couture Collection.”

By blurring the lines between one’s real body and art, this all-Rouge look was inspired by Canto I of Dante’s Inferno, a chronicle that highlight’s the poet’s journey through hell. With fine attention to detail, her final look evoked the feeling of a live sculpture sitting front-row at the show.
