The Maison is participating in Flânerie Colbert Abu Dhabi, organised by Comité Colbert, that runs from November through December 2019.

The brand is using two platforms in Abu Dhabi to explore French luxury and its cultural significance in the 21st century. Here is where you can explore Chloé magic.

As part of Flânerie Colbert, Van Cleef & Arpels has collaborated with Maison Chloé to reveal a custom installation that showcases elements related to the theme, ‘Making Luxury’. Highlighting the exceptional savoir-faire of the Maison over the years, Chloé will illustrate the creation of two iconic couture dresses through a scenography display: the ‘Crétoise’ dress from Spring-Summer 1984 and Look 57 from Spring-Summer 2019.

From Spring-Summer 1984, the ‘Crétoise’ dress references the chiton and himation from Greek Antiquity, which were among the first garments recognized as fashion. Here, the dress is covered in elaborate couture embroideries of sequins and pearls creating a trompe l’oeil draping effect.

For her SS19 collection, current creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi, drew inspiration from ancient Greece and conceived a dress in gathered and crushed Georgette viscose. The plastron, in cady crêpe embroidered with synthetic stones, underwent a design process that will be revealed in the exhibition.

Alongside the revelation of the process which will be showcased through five prototypes, visitors will be able to delve into the history of the Maison through a series of elements. Behind the scenes illustrations, design evolution processes, and craftsmanship techniques will allow visitor to discover how these beautiful creations were brought to life.

The exhibition will be held at the Van Cleef and Arpels boutique at The Galleria Al Maryah Island from November 12 to November 23, 2019.

Now you have another fashionable excuse to visit Abu Dhabi
