After a five-month closure that saw the iconic Burj Khalifa Lake completely drained, the wait is finally over. Emaar has officially confirmed the grand reopening of The Dubai Fountain, marking the completion of the first major phase of its stunning transformation.
A landmark moment for the city, the fountain will once again begin its daily performances on Wednesday, October 1 , following an extensive period of upgrades. Social media hints from the developer had built anticipation for an October restart, and the date is now set in stone.
But this is only the beginning. Emaar has revealed that this five-month shutdown was merely Phase One of a grand redevelopment plan. This initial stage involved the colossal task of draining the 30-acre lake to allow for critical work on tiling, water insulation, and painting—essential measures to preserve the fountain’s signature beauty, safety, and reliability for years to come.
The even more exciting Phase Two is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2026. This phase promises to blend cutting-edge creativity and technology, introducing new features designed to deliver fresh moments of wonder for visitors from across the globe.
Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar, shared his vision, stating: “The return of Dubai Fountain is a celebration of Dubai itself – its spirit, its energy, and its ability to inspire the world. When the fountain reopens, it will remind us once again of what Dubai represents: innovation, ambition, and the creation of experiences that leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits.”

Afternoon Shows: Daily at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. On Fridays, the afternoon shows are at 2:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
Evening Shows: From 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm daily, with spectacular performances every 30 minutes.
What to Expect from the Upgrade
While the fountain returns with its classic charm on October 1, the full technological overhaul is part of the 2026 upgrade. The future promises advanced technology, improved choreography, and a fully enhanced sound and lighting system. The shows will continue to be a marvel of engineering, with the fountains capable of spraying up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140 metres in the air, all accompanied by a symphony of lights and music.
In an innovative twist, the future phase will also utilise robots to precisely move the water and control the lighting, ensuring a perfectly synchronised and breathtaking spectacle.
During the closure, Emaar ensured the promenade between Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar remained a dynamic destination by installing 500 metres of state-of-the-art digital screens. These screens animated the area with engaging visual content, offering a modern alternative while the lake underwent its dramatic makeover.
The countdown to October 1 is on—get ready to be captivated once again by the rhythm and grace of one of Dubai’s most unforgettable experiences.
