Welcome to the Emirates Woman weekly series ‘How I got my job as…’ where we speak to some incredible entrepreneurs and businesswomen both based in the UAE and globally to find out about their career paths that led them to where they are now; what their daily routines look like; the advice they’d give to those starting out; and the hurdles they’ve had to overcome.

This week we chat with Jane Muff, a Dubai-based transformational coach and energy healer at Miracles Wellness Center. What initially started as an interest and hobby, Jane turned her passion into a hobby after a “chance” meeting with the CEO of the centre.

With a clear direction and devotion to helping others find their path, Jane notes that our wellness and energy are often overlooked by individuals, but stresses by taking a grasp on it you’ll see “endless benefits it has on our mind, body and soul”.

Emirates Woman sat down with Jane to find out what sparked her pivot into the wellness space, what brought her to Dubai and the benefits energy healing can have.

What was your favourite subject at school?

I enjoyed Drama at school asI loved being able to express myself freely.

What was your first job?

My first job was as a Dental Nurse.

What eventually brought you to Dubai?

My best friend Laura of many years and also the director of a publishing company I worked for, persuaded me to leave the company in the UK and join the Dubai branch. It took a few years of persuasion but eventually, I brought my family out for my career.

What inspired you to go into the wellness and holistic healing space?

I started my healing journey when I was in my 20s and it has always been a passion as it comes to me naturally. By chance, I met Amrit Schmidt, who is my CEO today. I visited Miracles Wellness Center and when I walked in I felt like I was home. She saw potential in me that I had been unsure of and through several conversations together, I realized it was time to make decisions for my own happiness and leave fear behind. I trusted the universe and took the leap of faith, and with the support of Laura to leave the company as she also believed wellness and holistic was where I belonged, I joined Miracles Wellness Center as a full-time practitioner and trainer.

Describe the importance of wellness in today’s society.

We tend to carry a lot of stress and anxiety in our busy lives. We are always rushing trying to fulfil our responsibilities and maintain the lifestyle we have chosen, but somewhere along the way, we tend to forget about ourselves. This in turn affects our mental and emotional health and eventually compromises the quality of our life. Focusing on wellness brings us back to our inner self, it teaches us various tools and methods of coping, healing, forgiveness, meditation and gratitude, just to name a few, which helps us truly start to enjoy living our lives rather than just being hamsters on a wheel. I cannot stress enough the importance of wellness and the endless benefits it has on our mind, body and soul.

What are the key elements of your role?

To listen to clients’ challenges and provide support in a non-judgemental and confidential environment. I identify the root cause of any challenges they are facing and get clear on their objectives along with goal setting. I then create a therapy plan which is very customized for each individual. Through a variety of therapeutic tools and techniques, I enable them to resolve their issues and provide home care to support the work we are doing such as, reducing stress and anxiety and assisting them in becoming empowered.

Talk us through your daily routine.

Every morning I sit outside and go through my gratitude list to the universe. I get my son off to school, then prepare a healthy dinner for both him and my husband for when they get home as I tend to work late. As I start work around 11 am I try to have an hour by the pool before work or go for a walk around the complex. It is important to feel positive so I can give the very best energy to my clients, and also for my own sense of well being. I like to get to work before clients to prepare my room for the day ahead and if I have extra time I create content for social media, replying to messages, creating posts and stories, as I also like to offer positive messages for my social media followers.

Generally, I leave about 8pm and try to ensure I spend an hour with my husband and son, trying not to talk about work and have a laugh. I have learnt over the years that work-life balance is super important, and I always like to bring fun into my home life.

What advice do you have for anyone looking to follow in the same footsteps?

If someone wants to leave the corporate world and come into wellness, I would say “What are you waiting for?”. More and more people are becoming open to it as part of their life. First clear any doubts or fears and completely believe that change is possible. Try not to listen to people who are negative and discouraging. It is really important to also find your support system to be there for you through your transition. Then just take the leap and trust in the universe.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?

You can help people but you cannot save them.

And what is the worst?

Money isn’t important.

What has been the biggest challenge you had to overcome?

Living in fear and not believing in myself.

What are the future plans for your brand?

At Miracles, we as a team continue to develop classes and workshops and to keep on raising awareness through social media and articles about how wellness and a holistic lifestyle can completely change your life for the better.
