All the tricks of the trade from make-up artist and entrepreneur Katharina Brennan

Step 1 To get rid of excess oil and purify my skin, I clean my whole face with Caudalie Vinopure toner using a cotton pad.

Step 2 To moisturise I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. This face cream already has SPF 30, but it is very important to use a proper sunscreen cream on top.

Step 3 I use La Roche Posey sunscreen SPF 50+ on top of the foundation and apply in the same way as the moisturiser.

Step 4 Now that my skin is prepped, I begin the base for my eyes using an eyeshadow primer from Urban Decay. I use the primer all over my eyes until the eyebrows. The primer will stop the eyeshadow from creasing. This product is a must-have and will ensure my eyeshadow stays put all day.

Step 5 As a base for my foundation I apply Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter. This product can also double up as a light foundation on days when only a super light coverage is needed. It also gives a super natural glow and is great for weddings or red carpet events.

Step 6 Next, I apply my foundation. I love Dior’s  Forever Foundation. It has a light-to-medium coverage and I apply using my fingers.

Step 7 After applying my foundation I use my favourite concealer from Estee Lauder – Double Wear Stay in Place concealer. To apply, I use a sponge.

Step 8 Before applying my eyeshadow, I use a translucent powder from MAC called Pep + Prime, to mattify the eyelid for a smooth and easy application.

Step 9 I use eyeshadow colour No 2 out of the Instant look in a pallet from Charlotte Tilbury for the top lid. This colour is a soft matte, ashy brown. To apply, I use MAC eyeshadow brush  in No217. For the bottom lid I use a smaller brush from MAC in No 210.

Step 10 Since I wanted to show you how to make this Givenchy look wearable for everyday, I decided to add mascara. This frames the eyes and gives more definition and depth. I use MAC’s In Extreme Dimension 3D mascara.

Step 11 Next, I fill in my eyebrows with Precisely, My Brow Pencil from Benefit. This pencil is very fine and has a brush on the other side to soften out the colour.

Step 12 I then use a dash of Charlotte Tilbury’s Instant look in a pallet shimmery shadow in pink tone No.1 in the corner of my eyes.

Step 13 I highlight my cheekbones using Charlotte Tilbury’s amazing ‘Light Wand’ to give a soft, everyday glow.

Step 14 To contour, I blend colour No4 from Charlotte Tilbury’s Instant look in a palette.  This colour is soft and perfect for lighter skin tones. I also use a Mac makeup brush in No108 to apply.

Step 15 To freshen up my face I mix blusher No 5 and 6  from the same pallet as the contour. The blusher has a beautiful shade and almost looks like I blushed naturally.

Step 16 To set the make-up and remove unwanted shine, I use MAC’s Prep + Prime translucent powder.

Step 17 For my lips, I use Lucas’ Papaw Ointment Lip balm. The look is pretty neutral so a colour-pop works here too.

Tip: To store my make-up at home or at work I use Kitmate’s make-up organiser bags. The bags come in different sizes and colours, but my favourite is iridescent. All Kitmate bags are also insulated and use cooling technology which means they are perfect for the UAE’s hot climate. Visit kitmate.com
