When celebrity couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic visited Dubai for Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2015, Emirates Woman caught up with the in-love pair over steaming mugs of cocoa at Ski Dubai.
Here the American TV star Giuliana Rancic talks fitness, the red carpet, and her New Year’s resolutions.
So what do you think of Dubai?
I didn’t realise there was so much to do, so many great restaurants, and the beaches are amazing. There are so many activities, a lot to do in this rather small area. We’re having a great time.
As a style icon what do you think about the fashion scene here?
The women love fashion, have a great fashion sense, and are very chic. That surprised me. I didn’t realise how into fashion people are in Dubai.

Would you bring clothing line G by Giuliana Rancic here?
I started the line about three years ago in the US, and it’s been doing very well. I’ve always wanted to expand the brand, and I thought Dubai would be a great first place.

With award season coming up, how do you prepare?
I don’t! I used to. I have a great stylist, Monica Rose, who styles Kendall Jenner and a lot of people in Hollywood. I trust her so much.
For the People’s Choice Awards I had fittings a few days before the show, which makes it a bit more challenging and fun.
Who are you looking forward to seeing on the red carpet?
Gosh, you know, I love George Clooney (Bill interjects with: “Thank god he’s married!” Giuliana laughs)… But I’ve never met Amal Alamuddin. I think she is very special, incredibly intelligent, so accomplished… Usually I’m excited to see Clooney, but I’m more excited to meet her.
Who do you still want to interview?
Madonna. I’ve only interviewed her briefly once, which was crazy, and it was brief. I’d like more time with Madonna, because I dressed as her for Halloween four years in a row when I was little, and I blurted that out on the red carpet and she looked like I was crazy. I want a little more time to explain that I’m not a crazy stalker.
Anyone else?
I love Pharrell Williams. We were with him the other night at the NYE party, and he’s so deep. I asked ‘what does the success of the song Happy mean to you?’ and he he listed off a multi-layered answer. So number one… and he went through six reasons why Happy means so much to him. He’s such a deep thinker, highly intelligent, incredible producer and songwriter. He’s amazing.
As it was just NYE, what are your tips to stay in shape?
I used to work out a lot more, but I’m so busy now with work and the baby (she has a two-year-old son, Edward Duke Rancic, with Bill). So the big thing for me, I try to walk. I used to run, but it was a lot of impact on my body. I walk 30 minutes, four times a week. We go to bed early so we get eight hours sleep.
Any resolutions for the New Year?
Just do everything in moderation. I think that’s really important, to have a balanced life, whether it’s food, exercise… we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, especially at the New Year, like I’m going to lose this weight, I’m cutting dessert out, but I don’t think that’s the answer. The most important thing is to not deny yourself anything, but you have to do it in moderation.
