She is the most famous model to come from Brazil and is the highest earning supermodel in world, however it is said that Gisele Bundchen is to quit modelling next month. The 34-year-old mother of two is rumoured to retire after strutting her stuff on the catwalk for her last time during São Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil next month.
According to Brazilian news website Estado, Gisele, who is married to American football star Tom Brady, does not plan to appear in any more catwalk shows. It is reported that the Brazilian model has dreamed of finishing her career as catwalk model in her home country, walking for native brand Colcci.
However, this doesn’t mean that this is the last we will see of her, the beauty will continue to lend her iconic looks to high profile fashion spreads and campaigns.
Ever since having her two adorable kids, Gisele has been taking a notable step back from the catwalk. For some time now it seems the veteran model has been carefully picking and chosing what jobs she takes on. In 2006 she walked her last show for Victoria’s Secret (she made her debut with the American lingerie brand in 1999) and last September she oozed confidence in her part during the feminist protest for Chanel at Paris Fashion Week. When it comes to ruling catwalks, no one does it better than Gisele.
So, what next for the veteran model? As well as working as a fashion model, it is believed Gisele, who is yet to comment on the news of her retirement, will concentrate on her many other talents – she is also an actress and a producer. The star is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, a role which she takes very seriously. The model voices the cartoon, Gisele The Green Team, which follows a group of teenage girls who lead double lives as supermodels and environmental superheroes.
With singing also on Gisele’s eclectic CV, we can’t wait to see what she has planned with all her extra time… perhaps a follow up to this single…?
