Punk boots are back.

It has been a season of throwbacks with the fashion world particularly infatuated with the Nineties.

From low rise jeans to micro sunglasses, the decade has been a firm favourite on the runway as well as A-list wardrobes, and Gigi Hadid is the latest to bring back a firm favourite from our teenhood. She was spotted wearing a pair of Dr Martens while out and about and previously at Coachella.

The tough girl shoes have reemerged, although for many they have never gone out of fashion. In fact, this style dates back to the 1940’s when Klaus Märtens, a doctor in the German Army during World War II, created the boot as an alternative to the standard-issue army boots after he injured his ankle skiing.

Our old school punk personality is more than happy to embrace this heavy-duty footwear trend, especially as these chunky shoes come in an array of styles and can be paired with anything from sporty joggers, denim shorts and pretty floral dresses.

It might be a good idea to invest now as we guarantee that nearly every fashionista will stride out in a pair stompy boots at Fashion Week. Versions of these classics have already been adapted at Prada, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Bottega Veneta for their FW 2019 collections, so they are definitely a worthy investment for next season.

All hail the return of grunge-glam.
