The Haute Couture schedule takes on a whole new look this season with designers finding a creative and impactful way to showcase the finest craftsmanship from their ateliers.

While Dior focused on creating a magical experience through film, Georges Hobeika decided to stay close to home to Lebanon for their Fall 2021 presentation.

“We have always utilised fashion as a launch pad for what ‘could be.’ While each collection’s theme is different, our inspiration has always been rooted in the strength of the Middle Eastern woman,” Hobeika said.

Titled ‘Madame President’, the collection champions “a new era of aspirations, where women and men lead in collective strength to demand respect, equality, and a better tomorrow”.

Bold colours, dazzling embellishment, daring cut-outs and a rich mix of texture had a certain power about them. Majority of the silhouettes were slim-lined giving the models that “boss” look, but there we also elements of feminine drama thanks to caped gowns and voluminous sleeves on ’60s-inspired coats.

The two-piece sets felt modern yet decadent, and we couldn’t help but be drawn to the geometric statement earrings. That’s until we saw the mesmerising wedding gown which was pure glamour, exactly what you expect from Hobeika.

‘Madame President’ feels like one of his more contemporary takes on couture, perhaps even worthy of the First Lady.
